We’re Independent
As an independent practice, we’re owned and run by people who work here every day—caring for your pets, getting to know your family, and being part of the local community. As well as in the clinic, you might see Carolyn at the school gates, Anneli in the gym, or both of them at WI—not hidden away in a head office miles from the action.
Being independent means we can stay flexible, make decisions quickly, and adapt to what our clients and their pets really need. It also gives our vets the freedom to choose the medicines and treatments they believe will work best for your pet—with no corporate pressures or targets.
We believe in contextualised care. That means taking the time to explain the different treatment options available, talking openly about costs, and helping you make the choices that feel right for your pet , your family and your circumstances.
The Facilities
We have two bricks-and-mortar sites as well as our mobile facility:

Our History
The Veterinary Hospital’s journey began over a century ago, when Charles Seeley established a practice on Monks Road in the heart of Lincoln. In 1977, we relocated to Riseholme Road. Through years of dedication and clinical excellence, the practice achieved Tier 3 status in 1986—becoming Lincolnshire’s first accredited Veterinary Hospital.
Continued growth led to the opening of a purpose-built facility on Newport in 2000, designed to meet the evolving needs of patients and veterinary professionals alike.
Fast-forward to 2021, and the Skellingthorpe practice was launched in response to the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The newly renovated space provided much-needed room for the team, patients, and their owners, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient environment
Recognising the increasing demand for accessible care, the hospital introduced a Mobile Clinic, delivering veterinary services directly to pets and their families. This initiative paved the way for the first community pop-up clinics in 2024, expanding reach and veterinary care across Lincoln and the surrounding villages.
Our Continuity of Care Pledge
We’re committed to supporting you and your pet after their surgery or overnight stay in our hospital. For up to 7 days after the procedure you can contact our out-of-hours nurse and vet for advice and support if needed, ensuring peace of mind and avoiding the need to visit the emergency vet.
Please make sure you note our current out-of-hours phone number when your pet is discharged.
Please note, for all other emergencies and concerns unrelated to the surgery, our partners at ‘VetsNow’ will be able to assist.
