By law, a dog over 8 weeks old must be microchipped (soon to be cats also, from the 10th June 2024)
A microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, can be implanted under your pet’s skin, normally in the scruff of the neck. The microchip carries a unique number which can be read with a special scanner. If your pet gets lost or stolen it can be checked by vets, local authorities and welfare organisations throughout the country and returned quickly.
It is therefore vital that you keep your details up to date and inform the database of any changes such as change of address/ownership.
We are delighted to announce we have added microchipping into all our healthcare plans.
